IS THERE REALLY NO REASON TO REACT TO ANYTHING?
This seems like a ridiculous question as people can think of many things that demand and require a reaction from us. So what is wrong with reacting? What do we get by reacting? I, of course, believe that the only thing we get from reacting is feeling lonely. When we react we are not connected to those we are reacting to. Whenever we react it is just like we are giving control of our lives to those we are reacting to instead of taking responsibility for our own lives. Another “of course” is that it NEVER works to yield control of our lives to others…even others who have actually good intentions. Good intentions are never for those they are intended for but for those who are giving the intentions as inevitably those intentions are for those who supposedly are giving them to others.
Now what’s a person to do? Well, you [we] could listen to others and if we find ourselves starting to react we need to leave where we are. However, if we are able to keep listening and not react and then want to say something we will be able to trust what we will say as it is not distorted by our reactions…really! I also distinguish between reacting and responding. One can respond if one is not reacting but remaining calm and collected [being our true selves] and then we can trust what our brain tells us to say or do. Time for another, really!
P.S., all of the above is one of the secrets to having a happy life, really!
